Last night, we were named Bakery Manufacturer of the Year at the industry "Oscars", the Baking Industry Awards (BIA) 2014. This award follows great success at the BIA having held the Craft Bakery of the Year title 3 times and in 2010 Managing Director Robin Jones was named Baker of the Year.
This time we were up against two of the biggest names in the industry - Greenhalgh and Rich Products both of whom have had an outstanding year. The judges visited our sites earlier this year where they were presented with a plether of information about processes, new ideas, environmental impacts, training and development of staff and were shown the plans for the new baking academy and iinovation centre due for completion early next year.
The awards evening was hosted by comedian Hugh Dennis who kept the crowd laughing as usual. The BIA really is a place where the British baking industry can be appreciated for what it does. Congratulations all of the other finalists and winners all of whom have put in alot of effort. You can view all the winners on the British Baker website.
Managing Director, Robin Jones said: “This is a very important year for the Village Bakery in a number of respects, Apart from celebrating our anniversary, we have undergone a very successful rebranding and have started building our new Baking Academy and Innovation Centre."
“I think all of this has helped us reach the final because the judges recognise the fact that we were planning for the future, we have a sustainable business and we’re here for the long term.”
We would like to thank all of our staff who have contributed to this success, we rely on a team of knowlegable and entusiastic people whom we couldn't manage without!
