Since our inception in 1934, Village Bakery has firmly established itself as one of Wales' favourite producers of traditional baked goods. As a testament to our ability to craft delicious baked bread, rolls, pies and pasties, Village Bakery are proud to have been selected as the winners of a number of prestigious awards.
In 1998 Village Bakery were announced as the winners of the Craft Business Award B.I.A, and in 2003 we scoped the title again.
Village Bakery gained a lot of recognition during 2008 when it won the Craft Bakery Award (for the third time!); became a 'Baker of the Year' finalist; and was bestowed two achievements by Wales True Taste for our wonderful Welsh Cakes and 'Sustainable Development'.
2009 saw our speciality Welsh Oggie pick up a Wales True Taste award, and in the same year Village Bakery took home the HSBC Medium Sized Welsh Business of the Year Award.
2010 saw Village Bakery win an 'Investor in People' award, as well as being named Baker of the Year.
In 2012 Village Bakery's Robin Jones was named the True Taste Champion of Wales - an accreditation the whole team holds incredibly dearly.Last year Village Bakery won an award for being the best medium sized supplier to Marks & Spencer, and was shortlisted for the Grocer Gold Award for Tesco Finest Welsh Cakes.
Village Bakery hit the top spot on the Fast Growth 50 list as Wales's fastest growing company in 2013.
Our Managing Director, Robin Jones, won the award for enterprise at the first annual St Davids Awards set up by First Minister Carwyn Jones to recognise and celebrate the exceptional achievements of people in Wales. Click here to read more.
After an unexpected announcement at the Tesco IGD awards we were announced as Tesco Local category supplier of the year 2014!
At the 2014 Baking Industry Awards held on September 10th, we received the award for 'Bakery Manufacturer of the Year'. A proud achievement for us all and a great 80th anniversary present.
During 2015 The Village Bakery won the CRTG Coop Best local community supplier of the year. Following this we also gained the Sustainable Growth Award from Wales Fast Growth 50. At the Food Manufacture Excellence Awards Village Bakery were finalists for Judges Star Performer and Bakery Manufacturing. The company were also finalists at the Private Business Awards for Family Business of the Year.
The Village Bakery take the impacts of the environment very seriously, having a Village Green initiative in place, therefore winning the Environmental Award at the Rural Wales Awards was very rewarding.
At the Baking industry awards 2017, the company gained an award for the M&S 5 grain crumpet and also placed as finalists in the Bakery Product of the Year with M&S Sandwich thin.
During 2017 we also saw the company achieve a Q Award win for the Iceland Multi Grain Crumpet.
At the start of 2018, the company won Britain's Best Loaf for a Gluten Free Loaf. At the Baking Industry Awards, the company placed as finalists in the FreeFrom category and also finalists for Customer Service Awards.
The Grocer Own Label Awards proved to be a very successful evening, with Village Bakery being the Innovation Winner for the Iceland Crumpet, leading on to being Category Champion for the crumpet.
At the end of 2018 the company attended the Baking Industry Awards, they became finalists for the Customer Focus Award. Village Bakery came away with Free From Bakery Product of the Year with the M&S Belgian Chocolate Twist.
The Chairman of the Village Bakery received a well-deserved award for his outstanding contribution to the baking industry at the BIA 2018.
